The potential for extracting energy from waves is considerable. Using waves as a source of renewable energy offers significant advantages over other methods of energy generation such as solar or wind. Some of these advantages include higher energy density. The group has long been involved in the field of extracting energy from sea waves. The team includes engineers and researchers from different disciplines. The group uses advanced mathematical tools, simulation and modelling software to design highly efficient wave to energy converters. The researchers are also interested in the economics of wave energy. The total amount of solar energy incident on Earth is massively in excess of the world\u2019s current and anticipated energy requirements. If suitably harnessed, this highly diffused source has the potential to satisfy all future energy needs.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The potential for solar energy is enormous, since about 200,000 times the world\u2019s total daily electric-generating capacity is received by Earth every day in the form of solar energy.<\/p><p><strong>Research topics<\/strong><\/p><ol><li>Sizing and installation of new compact-size PV cells.<\/li><li>Hybridization with Diesel GenSets.<\/li><li>Storage of solar energy: Intermittency is one of the biggest problems facing solar energy systems, as their production can fluctuate, even within a day, depending on the weather. Batteries used to store energy are one of the most expensive components in a solar energy system.<\/li><li>Stabilization of Grids: A second research priority is developing smart grids to deal with intermittency. CERE is currently hosting a project that studies the technical feasibility of using wind in Gaza-Palestine. Sensors were installed to collect wind data.<\/p><p>Wind data will be analyzed to focus on average annual wind speed, frequency distribution of wind various speeds, maximum gusts and vertical wind shear.
